Nikola Irmer is a German contemporary artist who studied at San Francisco Art Institute, Glasgow School of Art and Hunter College New York. Born in 1970, she lives and works in Berlin.

Her work has often concentrated on the representation of specific people or groups of people. Through close interaction with her models, she gains insight into their way of life and reflects this in her paintings - full of intensity and psychology. For example, she accompanied Horst the gay cross-dresser for long periods of time, talked to him, took photographs, made drawings, and captured the essence of the man.
